Description

:icondawn-of-destinies:

Why is it that whenever something dramatic happens, the weather is always really nice? On this particular day, the sun was high in the sky, covering the ground below with warm light; a simple breeze moving through the land to keep it from getting too hot. Out to enjoy this beautiful weather, Amethyst made his way through the mountains, the breeze slightly stronger because oof the higher altitude. Not that he minded that though; a breeze was always nice.
Because of all this warm weather and the snow unsettling the mountains, landslides had been abundant throughout the territory and currently Ame was on his way to go and check out one of the sites further in the mountains. The area was deep in and wasn't normally used and so it was one of the few that had remained unchecked. It hadn't been on the priority list, but now, since most of the important ones had been dealt with, Ame had the chance to go and see how badly this one had struck. He bounced along the trail, using his bending to make the trip much faster. He wanted to get there before the sun began to set so that he could get a good look at the area.
He arrived at his destination after about a half an hour and the damage of the slide was obvious right away. Dirt and mud, stones, leaves and other debris littered the ground and sides of the mountains in huge piles. This had been a rather large landslide and Ame quickly thanked the spirits that it had been way out here and not by the camp. He licked his lips, he was going to have to be careful now because he was going to go in there and take a look around. It had to be done; just to see if there was any point to even trying to clear this area out or not; even if they didn't really use the area. It could still come in handy in the future for some reason or another.
Placing one paw in front of the other slowly and carefully, Amethyst began to pick his way down, dirt and pebbles rolling out from underneath his paws and down the slope. He watched them, carefully scanning the path in front of him for anything that looked like it would give away from underneath him and send him tumbling down as quickly as those little stones had. Thankfully for him, he didn't see anything and for the most part, the desent was pretty smooth... for going down along earth that had been a part of a landslide that is.
His paws touched down onto more solid, flatter ground and he shook himself out, trying to get rid of any tense muscles the climb down had caused. The ground was still uneven, but it was going to be easier to walk on; he would just need to be careful of where he tread. He didn't wanna end up injured over here as it would take a long time for him to return to camp if he was. That or it would take his clanmates a good chunk of time to find him. Neither of those were very appealling so Ame kept most of his attention on where he placed his paws as he picked his way through the landslide. It was a stop and start process. He would stop and look around, taking into account just what kind of damage they were looking at before he would walk on a bit further and stop again. Surprisingly, Ame hadn't seen too much damage so far and if they were to take the time to clear this area out, it would most likely be just fine. At least on this side it was.
Sighing softly, Ame stopped again and looked around, only this time something pale caught his eye. He tilted his head and stepped over to the item that was half buried in the dirt, figuring it was most likely some weird shaped rock. He almost turned away from it, but where was the fun in that? He sat down just in front of the item and pushed his paw into the dirt, digging around it. Nope; it definitely wasn't a rock. As his paw brushed against it, Ame realized it had the same feeling as the cured wood of his necklace. His interest piqued, Amethyst dug a little more before he took a breath and blew a gust of wind, clearing the dirt from around the little wooden object. His eyes widened, there in the little dip, was a small wooden carving of a Flying Bison, the arrows and stripes a darker colour than the rest of the wood. Ame just stared at it for a moment before he gingerly lifted it up in his paws, sitting back on his haunches as he turned it over in his paws, admiring the beautiful work. And by the look and feel, he guessed that it was old, like his necklace.
A happy smile graced his expression, another piece of history had fallen into his paws. It was a nice feeling. Ame gently set it down so that he could get a grasp of it with his teeth, carrying it carefully so that he wouldn't mark up the wood. Now that he had found this little carving, he was curious; were there more around here? It would be cool to have them decorating the camp if there were more of them.
With that in mind, Ame began to wander about, a little less careful about where his paws landed because his eyes were too busy scanning the area for more little wooden figures of the past.
And then he turned the corner around a pile of dirt.
Ame's jaw dropped open and the little carving hit the ground, but Amethyst hardly noticed. His ears dropped back and he felt himself go cold at the sight in front of him. A jet black paw, the fur splattered with dirt rose up from the shifted ground. Ame's heart was hammering in his chest and it truly took him a few breathless moments to realize just what he was seeing. "O-Obsidian?" The question sounded choked, as if the word hadn't wanted to come out of his mouth. It was unmistakebly a cat's paw, and Obsidian was the only black cat in the clan. There was no one else the paw could belong to. Tears welled in Amethyst's eyes as he came to the terms with the fact that this meant the Healer was truly dead. There was no way he had survived incased in the Earth for that long.
Ame took a step back, "No..." This entire time Ame had been hoping that somehow, somewhere Obsidian had still been alive, but it seemed that his hopes were crushed. Obsidian must have come this way to find herbs as the land was hardly used. Plants had a chance to grow here without being trampled. But it also meant that when the landslide hit that it wasn't place where the others would think to look. A shiver raced down Ame's spine; he didn't want to even try imagining what the last moments had been like for the tom.
What about Mole? Ame blinked past the tears and let his eyes scan the area but there was no visible sign of the young apprentice. But for all he knew she could be buried completely underneath all of this dirt. Ame didn't dare try to move the dirt now though; he would not face the same fate as Obsidian. No, not on his own. He needed to return to his clan with the news. They needed to know what had happened now that he knew.
Taking a deep breath, "I'll come back for you..." He murmured to the Spirit of the previous Healer. He deserved a proper burial; not this. He stared at the paw for a moment more, "Farewell friend." He mewed before he ducked his head down and grabbed the little carving. It was a sort of memorial symbol now.
With one last glance at the paw, Amethyst turned tail and raced back up the way he had come down. It was careless and a few times his paw slid out from underneath him, but he needed to get back to camp as fast as possible. The tears that had been falling ceased, as now the sadness that Ame had felt had been replaced with the determination to give Obsidian's Spirit the proper farewell and to give his clan the truth they had been searching for. Even if it wasn't the one they wanted.

WELP SHIT.
Amethyst has the best of luck it seems although he'd probably beg to differ... Although Ame would rather be the one to find it than someone like Juni or the other apprentices. He doesn't think they need to be the one to stumble upon this whole thing.
Before anyone asks, yes I did get permission to do this with Obsidian; because eventually they were going to have to find out how it happened~ Although he only found the Healer. Mole is still a mystery...
